With the closure of the old tanneries in the Rec district of Igualada, the door for the reuse of the early baroque architecture industrial spaces has opened.
In this process, the old tanning drums, made of high-quality woods, are dismantled. This ma- terial, which has worked under extreme conditions of strength and humidity, can be used again for new functions.
Through this idea, the REFIX collection seeks to reuse the material and, at the same time, reuni- te the two elements, wood and leather.
The basic idea is to rebuild and “REFIX” the wood, using the collections, as a kind of curing process. Links with the constructivist concept that both in architecture, design, and even in philosophy speaks of our universal ability to construct new realities for ourselves.
Materials
Refix combines, bovine sadle leather with ash solid wood structure.
The leather, vegetable-tanned and wax-finished, is available in four different aniline colours: natural, brown, hazelnut, and black.
